What is Happening at the Loo of the Year Awards?
It has been a busy few months for the team at the Loo of the Year Awards, and we are excited to share some of the fantastic projects and opportunities currently underway.
Entries Close Soon!
If you are proud of the toilet facilities your organisation provides, now is the perfect time to showcase them. Entries for the 2026 Loo of the Year Awards close on 31st July, and we would love to see even more Herefordshire businesses and organisations taking part.
The Loo of the Year Awards recognise all away-from-home washrooms. That means entries are welcomed from offices, workplaces, factories, visitor attractions, cafés, restaurants, hotels, schools, shopping centres, healthcare facilities, sports venues and many more.
It is not just about the toilets your customers or visitors use. Staff facilities are equally important. Well-maintained, clean and welcoming washrooms demonstrate that an organisation values the wellbeing of its employees as much as the experience of its customers. A quality washroom can improve staff morale, support health and wellbeing, and leave a lasting impression on everyone who uses your facilities.
Many businesses invest heavily in reception areas, meeting rooms and customer spaces, yet the washroom is often the one place every visitor remembers. Could your facilities become an award-winning example of excellence?
We would really like to see more Herefordshire organisations flying the flag for our county and being recognised nationally for the high standards they provide.

Introducing... The Bog Cast
Have you tuned into The Bog Cast yet?
Our podcast is released on the 1st of every month, where we chat with inspiring guests, industry experts and organisations making a real difference in the world of washrooms and public facilities. From accessibility and hygiene to sustainability, innovation and behind-the-scenes stories, every episode explores why toilets matter more than people often realise.
If you miss the audio version, each episode is released on our YouTube channel two weeks later, making it even easier to catch up.
Who knew toilets could make such interesting conversation?
Inspiring the Next Generation
One of the projects we're most excited about is our partnership with Madley Primary School.
Eight enthusiastic Year 3 pupils have become our very first Loo Ambassadors and are working alongside us, Tork and Dunham Washrooms to reimagine what school toilets could and should be.
The children are sharing their ideas, designs and thoughts about what makes a toilet feel safe, welcoming and comfortable to use. Their creativity has been incredible, and they are helping us understand school washrooms through the eyes of the people who use them every day.
Our ambition is to expand this initiative and work with more schools across the country. By educating children about respecting shared facilities, helping them understand why clean, safe toilets matter and encouraging them to leave facilities in good condition for the next person, we hope to create positive habits that last a lifetime.
Welcoming Our First Ambassador
We're also delighted to announce that in April we welcomed Chris Hunt Skelley MBE as the very first Ambassador for the Loo of the Year Awards.
As a Paralympic judo medallist and a sufferer of Celiac Disease, Chris is passionate about inclusion, accessibility and encouraging high standards. His values align perfectly with our mission to ensure everyone has access to safe, clean and accessible toilet facilities, and we are honoured to have him supporting the work we do.
More Than Just Toilets
The Loo of the Year Awards continue to champion something that affects every one of us, every single day. Good toilets improve visitor experiences, support staff wellbeing, encourage tourism, enhance business reputations and demonstrate genuine care for customers, employees and communities.
If you would like to find out more about entering this year's awards, we would love to hear from you and would be especially delighted to celebrate more Herefordshire businesses and organisations on our national stage.
